Luke Moore, born on February 13, 1986 in Birmingham, is an English football player who plays as a striker. He is the younger brother of Stefan Moore, a striker who formerly played with Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers. Luke Moore began his international career in 2005 as part of the England Under-21 national team, and as of 2008, he has won 5 caps for the team.
In 2001, Luke Moore started his football career with the youth club of Aston Villa, where he paired up with his brother and played an instrumental role in helping the club win the 2002 Football Association (FA) Youth Cup. His team managed to reach the finals of the FA Cup of the 2003-04 season as well. In December 2003, Aston loaned Luke Moore to Wycombe Wanderers, and he made his debut for the club against Notts County on December 13, 2003, which ended in a 1-1 draw. In his second game, a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, Luke Moore made his first goal for Wycombe. He scored his first hat-trick on January 3, 2004 in a 4-1 win against Grimsby Town. After scoring 4 goals in 6 appearances for Wycombe, he returned to Aston Villa in 2004 and made his debut as a substitute for Stefan Moore in a 2-2 draw against Birmingham City. On March 5, 2005, Luke Moore netted his first goal for the Villa senior team in a 2-1 winning match against Middlesbrough. He firmly established his place as the first-team starter by the beginning of the Premiership season, and on February 5, 2006, he scored a hat-trick, his first in the Premiership, against Middlesbrough. Luke Moore added another goal to his credit in a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic on September 23, 2006.
After recovering from a shoulder injury, he returned to play for Aston Villa on April 9, 2007 as a substitute for Shaun Maloney in a game against Wigan Athletic. On April 14, 2007, Luke Moore again came off the bench and struck a header against Middlesbrough, which helped Aston Villa win by 3-1. In the last game of the 2006-07 season, he scored an equalizer against Bolton Wanderers in the 83rd minute to draw the match. On July 25, 2007, Luke Moore starred in a friendly match against the Toronto Football Club and scored a hat-trick. In February 2008, he went on loan to West Bromwich Albion and played his first match for the club on February 23rd, coming in as a substitute in the second half of the game against Hull City. After the Albion secured a promotion to the Premiership, Luke Moore got a permanent transfer to the club on May 28, 2008 for £3 million in fees.
